For anybody interested I am uncovering the secrets of production pattern's markings. Most popular abbreviations used in manual and digital pattern cutting: CF - centre front CB - centre back S/S - side seam S/F - side front seam S/B - side back seam S/A - seam allowance
R.S.U - right side up (means that you place the right side of such marked pattern on the right side of fabric)
W.S.U - wrong side up (you place right side of such marked pattern on the wrong side of faric) GL - grain line W - waist line B - bust line H - hip line E - elbow line K - knee line
A/H - armhole
SHLDR or SH - shoulder NCK - neck SLV - sleeve FCNG - facing SF - side front SB - side back W/BAND or WBAND - waistband CLR - collar TRZS or TR - trousers TP - top (used also for blouses, shirts and t-shirts) SK - skirt JK or JKT - jacket (sometimes used for coats as well) DR or DRS - dress

Why there are so many abbreviations? In digital pattern cutting programs, when naming pattern pieces, you are limited to certain amonunt of letters. In manual pattern cutting it is used a bit for the speed and a bit for clarity - just try to imagine a pattern with lots of words on it, especially when they are close to each other :) If you still haven't found the abbreviation you were looking for, just contact me and I'll add it here.
