ABOUT

irene-pattern-cutter-at-irkArt.jpg

Educated as Garment Technician and getting experience throughout the Europe I become a versatile and open minded pattern cutter with creative flair, technical ability to create patterns to a high standard and with exceptional eye to detail, which means that you can count on my expertise in every aspect of garment construction.

I am experienced in fit sessions and applying amendments, selecting adequate finishings, simplifying garments for production and various sewing techniques. I understand garment construction, grading rules, shrinkage, finishing processes and hanger appeal.

Ladies wear is my speciality (although I do not limit myself to it ) -  from separates, denim and activewear  to soft tailoring, elaborated corsets, structured dresses, evening wear, bridal wear or costumes. I have worked with a variety of fabrics from jerseys through silk and wool to leather on a product range from high street to luxury.

Welcome to my about section!

My name is Irene and I run my services by myself. That means you are always my special customer, there is no lost information within the team, there is nothing  lost in translation and I can guarantee the deadlines. I am the one that takes the order from the beginning to the end. I'll meet you personally or via Skype and discuss all the details of your design so I can learn what your style and aesthetics are, and make your patterns right to your liking.

I love challenges and working with big dreamers! If you are one, you won't be disappointed with what I can create. I would call myself a  highly creative perfectionist. My final patterns are very precise – garments are well fitted, curves neat, hems levelled, attention is paid to notches, measurements and descriptions.

I work mostly digitally nowadays with very little of old school romantic manual pattern cutting. My studio has received an enormous upgrade with CAD and 3D programs and possibility of photodigitizing the manual patterns. My possibilities have grown ever bigger, the patterns are made quicker and first mock-ups are mostly digital saving on fabric and sewing cost to all my costumers. This also creates the possibility of making virtual fittings with the avatar set to the specific measurements and wearing a digital toile. Amendments and fit corrections can be made before the first sample is ever sewn. All this possibilities made working on the distance as easy as it has never been and proved a lifesaver over the recent pandemics. The tools are really fit for the job.

I am available for in-studio or remote freelance creative pattern cutting assignments. I have fully equipped digital pattern cutting studio CAD 2D and 3D from where i could support you remotely in your pattern cutting needs (big or small) throughout a year and/or work on-site at your studio during the busy seasons.

I am a creative mind with a technical background with over 15 years of experience in fashion industry (couture and luxury, FW catwalks, RTW, bespoke, VIP, as well as high street), and established freelance pattern cutter working on British market for over 10 years.
